Junior Church
Introduction
Christ Church Junior Church exists to support you in raising your children to know and trust the Lord Jesus. We aim to provide a concentrated time of teaching from the bible to reinforce the Christian example given at home. We aim to give the children age-appropriate teaching about the Lord Jesus so that as they grow they may know how to read the bible for themselves, pray and live for the Lord Jesus. Our teachers are all carefully vetted and CRB checked.
‘We will not hide them from their children;
We will tell the next generation
The praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
His power, and the wonders he has done.’
Psalm 78:4
Creche
We provide a creche area in the small hall for breastfeeding and as a place to leave your child up to the age of three. The older children (usually 2 years old) have a more structured time of Bible story, colouring and a song. There are toys for the children to play with.
The purpose for the crèche is that parents will, with confidence, leave their children so that adults can enjoy the service without distraction. If a child in crèche is distressed a crèche leader will come and find the parent. Generally it isn’t helpful for the leaders if a parent stays in crèche and can unsettle the other children.
If you would like to be on the crèche rota please speak to Fiona Morgan.
Ripples
We have a group in each service for those children who have had their 3rd birthday up until they start year 1 at infant school. This group meets in the church office after the children leave the main service.
Cathy Hargrave leads the group during the first service and Kathryn Warne leads the group during the second service.
Breakers and Tidal Waves
Currently the Breakers (School years 1 and 2) and the Tidal Waves (school years 3 to 6) meet together in the large hall once the children leave the main service. After an activity and a story they break into age appropriate table groups.
Robin Barfield runs both of these groups.
The teaching tends to be linked with what is being taught at 24-7 club on Tuesdays for all Junior children, as well as in school assemblies at Willow Wood and Wharton Juniors.
Surfs Up
Surfs Up is for the young people in High School (Year 7 up). It meets in the vicarage after the children leave the main service. However it only meets during the second morning service.
The aim for this group is to prepare them to enter the main family of the church. We encourage them to join the main service as soon as possible.
Beth Hanson leads this team.
